Frequently Asked Questions

1. What should I do if my child can not attend an event?
Complete and submit the following Google Form at least 24 hours prior to the event.

https://goo.gl/forms/CIH2PuGVcIzgTIKM2

2. What does my child need for marching band season?
For summer band practice, students are required to have an insulated thermos jug (minimum 1/2 gallon required) of water or sports drink. Shoes are required to be an athletic, running, or cross country training type shoe that is low cut (exposes the ankle bone). It is strongly recommended for them to have a hat and sunglasses and they should wear shorts, light colored tops, and sunscreen. Cymbal players will need solid black weight lifting gloves.

Items worn under the marching uniform can be purchased on Registration Day which will include a gold shirt, black shorts, and black shoes. Solid black socks are also required to be worn with the uniform and should be at least crew length.  Ankle socks are not sufficient. They will need a garment bag (and/or duffle bag) which can also be purchased on Registration Day. Students will be provided a list by their section leaders of other required items.

3. What if my child is in Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Team Tennis, Cheerleading Squad, or Strutters?
These students are excused from morning outdoor rehearsals in the summer and after school rehearsals once school begins. During the summer these students are not expected to attend morning rehearsals but ARE expected to attend afternoon music rehearsals when the two activities do not conflict. These students will not march in the halftime field show but will instead perform on the sidelines along with the other athletes and alternates.

4. What do the band fees cover?
Band Fees make up the majority of the KOBA budget and enable KOBA to operate throughout the year. Band fees cover expenses not already paid for by Klein ISD such as:
  • marching drill
  • marching show musical arrangement
  • marching show expenses
  • auxilary marching band staff
  • year round color guard staff
  • winter guard show design
  • winter guard transportation
  • band banquet
  • band clinicians
  • master class/sectional leaders
  • concert expenses
  • KISD ensemble entry fees
  • KO Band Concerto Competition expenses
  • bus transportation to non-UIL events
  • uniform final cleaning
  • social activities
  • refreshments for all students
  • meals for extended competition days
  • scholarships
  • yearbook ad
  • ice machine maintenance
  • poster and other office expenses

This makes up a "fair share" payment that spreads the financial burden across the entire band family. KOBA will be unable to provide these items if Band Fees are not paid. If finances are an issue, we have fundraising opportunities that you can take advantage of to offset the cost.

5. What is game day inspection?
For students to pass game day inspection they must have gold KO Band uniform shirt, black shorts, long black socks, black uniform marching shoes, flip folder (in correct order and labeled with name) and water jug.

6. How can I sign up for private lessons?
Coming Soon

7. Can my child leave with me from an event?
If you plan on taking your child home after the football games on Friday night, a link to a Google form will be provided by Mr. Clearwater. Please complete the Google form by 4:00 p.m. the day of the game.

8. What does my child need for concert season?
