About Color Guard
Colorguard is a unique performance activity which incorporates dance with spinning flags, rifles and sabres. Colorguard combines elements of athletics and artistic dance to achieve a high level of entertaining pageantry.
In the Fall School Semester, the Colorguard performs with the Marching Band at varsity football games, marching contests, and other events. The Colorguard adds visual interest to the marching show and contributes a lot to the overall success of the band.
In the Spring School Semester, the Colorguard competes indoors, in special “Colorguard Only” Contests against other area high school colorguards. You will hear this Colorguard activity referred to as "Winter Guard."
The Klein Oak Winterguards perform in two different circuits during the spring season. The local circuit is TCGC which is based in the Houston and Austin areas. It holds local competitions that culminate with the TCGC State Championships in Early-April. The national circuit is WGI. WGI holds regionals throughout the country that culminate with a World Championship Competition in Mid-April. The Winterguard team competes in both TCGC and WGI.
