Concert Season
Band students are divided into four performing bands and one skills based class. These bands meet for a full class period every day for the entire school year and have after school sectionals beginning in January. The concert bands are separated by ability level and students are placed in classes by audition each semester.
The top band is called the Wind Ensemble. Due to the high level of commitment, freshmen are not placed in this band in the fall. They will have the opportunity to audition for the spring semester. The next highest band is Symphonic, followed by Concert and Varsity. The skills based class (Fundamentals) is for students that have little or no experience with playing an instrument.
All band members (with some exceptions) are also part of the marching band which rehearses daily in August before school starts and continues after school most afternoons through early November.
Some of our students (usually older, more experienced players) audition or are invited to be part of the jazz band, full orchestra, musical pit orchestra, or other enriched opportunities.
